Engagement sessions are one of my favorite parts of working with my couples.
Not only do you get photos you can use for save-the-dates, your wedding website, and your home, but it also gives us a chance to work together before the big day. I don’t want to feel like a stranger on your wedding day. Think of me as your professional third wheel. I’m there to help you feel comfortable, relaxed, and like yourselves.
And if the thought of engagement photos makes you nervous, don’t worry. Engagement sessions don’t have to be stiff or awkward. I send every couple a planning guide that helps with outfit ideas, locations, and what to expect so the experience feels easy and fun. The goal is always the same: photos that feel like you and tell your story.
If you’re planning an engagement session in Birmingham, here are some of my favorite spots.

Birmingham Botanical Gardens
This is my go-to engagement session location in every season.
The Botanical Gardens offer so much variety in one place. From the rose garden to manicured paths, evergreen Conservatory, and quiet corners, every session can look completely different. That’s what I love most about it.
Whether you want something romantic, classic, playful, or laid-back, we can create a session that feels personal without walking far or changing locations. It’s perfect for couples who want timeless images with a natural feel.
Why couples love it:
- Works beautifully year-round
- Tons of variety in one location
- Easy, relaxed atmosphere

Downtown Birmingham
Morris Avenue, the Pedestrian Bridge, and the Federal Courthouse
If you love a more urban feel, downtown Birmingham is always a favorite.
Morris Avenue has beautiful brick streets, historic charm, and character that photographs so well. Pair that with the nearby pedestrian bridge for something modern and fun, or the Federal Building U.S. Courthouse for a clean, architectural look.
Downtown sessions are perfect for couples who love the city, enjoy walking around together, or want something a little more editorial and bold.
Why couples love it:
- Urban, modern, and timeless
- Great mix of textures and architecture
- Perfect for dressy or casual outfits

Scenic Views: Vulcan Park & Sibyl Temple
If you’re drawn to views and scenic backdrops, these spots never disappoint.
Vulcan Park and Museum offers one of the best overlooks of the city and feels iconic to Birmingham. It’s a great option for couples who want something recognizable and bold.
For something a little quieter and tucked away, Sibyl Temple is a beautiful hidden gem. With greenery, stone details, and a peaceful atmosphere, it’s perfect for couples who want a romantic, intimate feel.
Why couples love them:
- Beautiful views and golden hour light
- A mix of classic and scenic
- Great for relaxed, romantic sessions

Make It Personal
Some of my favorite engagement sessions happen in places that mean something to you.
Your favorite cocktail spot, or ice cream shop can be such a fun way to tell your story. These sessions feel natural, relaxed, and very “you,” especially if that’s where you spend time together.
There’s no rule that engagement photos have to look a certain way. The best sessions are the ones that reflect your relationship.
Why couples love it:
- Totally unique to you
- Laid-back and fun
- Feels authentic and personal
