Amber & Blake | A Farm Engagement Portrait Session

After months of planning, the day Amber & Blake have waited for is finally here! They will be saying “I Do” this Saturday on what is guaranteed to be a beautiful fall wedding day.

Luckily I had the opportunity to hang out with them before their big day. Amber suggested The Farm in Akron, Alabama and I was blown away. This was my first time to this venue (that isn’t far from where I grew up) & it made for the perfect backdrop to their engagement portraits.

I left this engagement portrait session feeling like I’ve known them since high school & I cannot wait to celebrate them very soon! Enjoy a few of my many favorites from their engagement portrait session.

Kylie & Ricky | Auburn, Alabama Engagement Portrait Session

I never thought these words would come out of my mouth, but this Alabama Wedding Photographer misses one of the loveliest village on the plains. That’s right, I miss Auburn, Alabama. So when two of my favorites requested their engagement portrait session in the town they call home, I said ABSOLUTELY!

Last time I was in this college town was for their proposal earlier this year! And now they are planning a wedding…in the middle of a pandemic! Who would’ve guessed it?! But they have taken it all in stride.

Every time Ricky smiles at his fiance, it’s like she’s the only girl in the world. He is smitten & I love photographing them together. And Kylie has the best laugh paired with the sweetest personality. P. S. She’s a dog mom too! I am so, so glad that we rescheduled after first getting rained out because this light is GORGEOUS!

Anna & Adam | A Birmingham Botanical Gardens Maternity Portrait Session

Last year, these two were planning their Alabama wedding & this April they’ll become parents!

It comes as no surprise to me, because I remember discussing this during their engagement session. Anna & Adam couldn’t wait to start a family of their own & are going to be the absolute best boy mom & dad.

From aspiring teachers in kindergarten to awkward teenagers on the softball diamond to being high school cheerleaders (Go Raiders!), we’ve walked through so many seasons of life together. I am grateful for friendships that have stood the test of time & am so giddy to witness my dear friend become a mommy.

Elizabeth & Michael | Birmingham Botanical Gardens Engagement Portrait Session

When a bride inquires with Deborah Michelle Photography & lists out that her & her fiance are “super laid back & fun!” And that they want their wedding to be true celebration of their love story, you can go ahead & count me in. Then immediately send me a photo of your pup & I am so your Alabama Wedding Photographer!

Elizabeth & Michael were the perfect pair to roam about with at one of my favorite Birmingham spots, the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. Michael shared with me one of the most romantic proposals I've ever heard & I just loved hearing him tell me all about it in person. Hint: it involved a ferris wheel!

These two gladly came to Birmingham for their engagement portrait session & the next time I see them will be their wedding day in Mobile, Alabama. My two hometowns collide in the best combination possible!

I’m telling you, these two are naturals! These first few portraits were taken during the “crash course in posing”.

Brittany & Cooper | Downtown Birmingham, Alabama Engagement Portrait Session

This Alabama bride-to-be was one of my first contacts to make in Birmingham, Alabama a year ago & we had an instant connection. We’re both dog MOMS - both to two adorably handsome Cavalier King Charles Cocker Spaniels.

Brittany works for an incredible non-profit here in our community, Hand-in-Paw, & she trusted me to photograph several of their events last year (*shameless plug, sign up for the Mutt Strut - it’s such a blast). Last year she got engaged to the best dog dad for Chester & asked me to photograph one of the most special days in her life. I about fell out of my chair with excitement!

Brittany & Cooper are two of the chillest people that I’ve ever met. They’re the type of friends who I could call that would always be down to grab a drink at one of Birmingham’s local breweries after work or meet up for dinner with the pups in toe. Their entire engagement session was so laid back & effortless as the they simply enjoyed being together.

Brittany chose the first location, Shoppe Bham. And I must return. It was the cutest little spot for some cozy, laidback engagement portraits.

Brittany is incorporating succulents into her wedding decor, so this detail shot of her ring is perfect!

Erika & Jimmy | Vulcan Park Birmingham, Alabama Anniversary Portrait Session

The city of Birmingham provided the most perfect backdrop for this Alabama anniversary portrait session. And after a little bit of research, I discovered that for your sixth anniversary you are to exchange gifts of iron which symbolizes strength & the durability of partnership. So how absolutely fitting was it that we took Erika & Jimmy’s portraits at Vulcan which the largest cast iron statue in the world!

Seriously, I let out a squeal when we stumbled upon this spot with these two. Being new the largest city in Alabama, I loved meeting two locals. They shared some of their favorite restaurants with me that I made sure to add to my on-going “must-try” list! Seriously, BHM has an incredible food scene in case you were wondering.

Oh & as if getting to know these two awesome people wasn’t enough, they brought their sweet pup, Charlie, too. *Warning: more squeals are likely when you see how cute she is! Keep scrolling for proof.
