The Sessions | Mobile Alabama Wedding

Oh what joy is was to be a witness to this union of two high school sweethearts last June in Mobile, Alabama.

Shelby & Bryan were married in their home church of Christ United Methodist Church. If you’re from the Gulf Coast area, you know that afternoon rain showers will happen in the summer. They also say it’s good luck if it rains on your wedding day, so I’d say these two are all set! But the little rain didn’t damper the mood, instead they decided to roll with the punches & as a photographer, I was thankful they trusted my portrait locations.

There were many touches that made Shelby & Bryan’s wedding day special much like her bouquet filled of sunflowers, her favorite, with a charm of her great-grandparents who got married on June 8 seventy-two years prior. And the baseball inspired cake displayed at the reception that share their love of the sport.

The Baileys | Demopolis Alabama Wedding

I don’t know about you but I am a BIG FAN of reminiscing over photos from my very own Alabama wedding day. Today, Anna Ruth & Adam celebrate their FIRST anniversary as husband & wife!!!

On a spring day in late April, surrounded by their dearest families & friends they exchanged vows in Anna’s home church. Vows that meant they would weather all of life’s highs & lows together. I know they have lived this out in just the last 365 days.

I remember the buttons on her dress, the look on her brother’s face when he saw her for the first time (I cried), the laughter her girls so graciously gave me when I asked them to lean in a little bit closer, Adam’s hand that ever so softly lead her around throughout the day, the moment the church doors opened & my childhood best friend walked down the aisle, the smiles of Adam’s grandfather who couldn’t help but be proud to be a part of the day & the dance party that took place later that night.

Looking back through these portraits have brought my heart much joy today & I know they will do the same for you. Happy Anniversary to two of the kindest souls that I am honored to call my friends.

Anna & Adam | A Birmingham Botanical Gardens Maternity Portrait Session

Last year, these two were planning their Alabama wedding & this April they’ll become parents!

It comes as no surprise to me, because I remember discussing this during their engagement session. Anna & Adam couldn’t wait to start a family of their own & are going to be the absolute best boy mom & dad.

From aspiring teachers in kindergarten to awkward teenagers on the softball diamond to being high school cheerleaders (Go Raiders!), we’ve walked through so many seasons of life together. I am grateful for friendships that have stood the test of time & am so giddy to witness my dear friend become a mommy.

Kylie & Ricky | An Auburn, Alabama Proposal

“I knew I loved him in that moment.” That moment Kylie mentioned was a Jason Isbell concert on the lawn of the Jay & Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center. They’d been dating for only a few months, but she knew that Ricky was the man she’d one day marry.

Fast-forward to a chilly day in February & they’re standing in that same exact spot, when he drops down on one knee & asks Kylie to be his wife. Talk about the perfect proposal!

I spoke with Ricky the week of his planned proposal & you could tell he was so excited. He picked out the loveliest three-stone ring for his girl & did his best to keep his nerves at bay. I’d say he did a pretty good job of surprising Kylie & I was honored to be a witness to such a sweet moment in their love story!

Elizabeth & Michael | Birmingham Botanical Gardens Engagement Portrait Session

When a bride inquires with Deborah Michelle Photography & lists out that her & her fiance are “super laid back & fun!” And that they want their wedding to be true celebration of their love story, you can go ahead & count me in. Then immediately send me a photo of your pup & I am so your Alabama Wedding Photographer!

Elizabeth & Michael were the perfect pair to roam about with at one of my favorite Birmingham spots, the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. Michael shared with me one of the most romantic proposals I've ever heard & I just loved hearing him tell me all about it in person. Hint: it involved a ferris wheel!

These two gladly came to Birmingham for their engagement portrait session & the next time I see them will be their wedding day in Mobile, Alabama. My two hometowns collide in the best combination possible!

I’m telling you, these two are naturals! These first few portraits were taken during the “crash course in posing”.

Brittany & Cooper | Downtown Birmingham, Alabama Engagement Portrait Session

This Alabama bride-to-be was one of my first contacts to make in Birmingham, Alabama a year ago & we had an instant connection. We’re both dog MOMS - both to two adorably handsome Cavalier King Charles Cocker Spaniels.

Brittany works for an incredible non-profit here in our community, Hand-in-Paw, & she trusted me to photograph several of their events last year (*shameless plug, sign up for the Mutt Strut - it’s such a blast). Last year she got engaged to the best dog dad for Chester & asked me to photograph one of the most special days in her life. I about fell out of my chair with excitement!

Brittany & Cooper are two of the chillest people that I’ve ever met. They’re the type of friends who I could call that would always be down to grab a drink at one of Birmingham’s local breweries after work or meet up for dinner with the pups in toe. Their entire engagement session was so laid back & effortless as the they simply enjoyed being together.

Brittany chose the first location, Shoppe Bham. And I must return. It was the cutest little spot for some cozy, laidback engagement portraits.

Brittany is incorporating succulents into her wedding decor, so this detail shot of her ring is perfect!
